Educational Qualification for NDA Exam

There are lots of doubts in minds of candidate regarding the education qualification requirement of NDA exam.

Following given are education requirement for the three services of the Indian armed forces.

Educational Qualification for NDA: Army wing of the NDA

12th class pass of the 10+2 pattern of school Education or equivalent examination conducted by a state education board or a university.

Students with non-mathematics background can also also apply for NDA but they will be eligible only for Indian army not Indian air force or Indian Navy. A commerce student can write NDA, students with arts background can also write NDA exam.

Education requirement for  Air force and Naval Academy

12th class pass of the 10+2 patter of school education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a state education board or a university.

Therefore Mathematics and physics is compulsory at 10+2 level if you want to apply for Indian navy and Indian air force after 10+2.

Student with commerce, arts or non-mathematics background cannot apply for Indian Air Force or Indian Navy.

 

What is the percentage requirement to apply for NDA exam?

NDA exam is conducted by UPSC and there no percentage requirement to apply for NDA exam. A candidate can apply for this exam with less than 50% marks or even if you have just passed with 35%.

Girls cannot apply for NDA exam at present.

 

Can students appearing for 12th class under the 10+2 patter apply for NDA?

Students who are currently in there 12th class can also apply for NDA, these candidates are allowed to appear in the UPSC Examination but they are required to summit the proof of passing at later stage of selection.

Students appearing in 11th standard are not eligible for NDA examination.

So after going through educational qualification for NDA exam, we can say that any students who is in 12th standard or has passed his 12th standard can apply for NDA and join Indian army regardless of there subject/stream or percentage in board exam.
