Twenty-one Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer Trainees spent five days attached to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) companies in Kashmir, gaining practical exposure to counter-terrorism duties and security operations. The Familiarization Module for the 78th Regular Recruit (RR) Batch, Second Batch, concluded on Sunday, November 8, 2026.
The programme was intended to connect the trainees’ theoretical learning with field experience, introducing them to the security environment and operational responsibilities of forces deployed in the Kashmir Valley.
Field exposure with CRPF companies
Divided into small groups, the trainees were attached to different CRPF companies. They observed operational practices and learned about the demands of counter-terrorism and internal security duties.

The field attachment covered Cordon and Search Operations (CASO), the functioning of Tactical Operation Bases (TOBs) and routine operational activities. The trainees were also introduced to the administrative, tactical and operational frameworks used in high-intensity security environments.
Tactical demonstrations and operational cells
On the programme’s final day, specialized tactical briefings and demonstrations focused on modern counter-terrorism operations. A live room intervention demonstration showed procedures used in close-quarter security operations.

The trainees also visited the War Room, Social Media Cell and Madadgaar Cell, where they were introduced to operational coordination, information monitoring and public assistance mechanisms.
A display of specialized weapons and modern operational equipment provided further exposure to resources used by security personnel in challenging operational settings.

Debriefing concludes the module
The five-day module ended with an interactive feedback and debriefing session. The trainees shared observations, discussed operational lessons and reflected on their field experiences.
The programme provided the 21 IPS Officer Trainees with exposure to counter-terrorism operations, inter-agency coordination and leadership responsibilities in sensitive security environments. The source says this practical experience is intended to support their professional preparedness for future leadership roles in law enforcement and internal security.
