Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Command, conducted a significant review of combat readiness at the Faridkot Military Station on a recent visit. The primary focus of this inspection was to assess the operational efficiency of the Chetak Corps, a pivotal formation tasked with bolstering India’s defenses along its western border.
Since taking command of the Sapta Shakti Command on July 1, 2024, Lt Gen Singh has prioritized ensuring that troops are prepared for any eventualities. His visit was marked by a warm reception, where he was welcomed with full military honors. During the ceremonial gathering, Lt Gen Singh engaged with both soldiers and officers, reviewing their tactical deployments and operational preparedness.
In his address, he commended the exceptional professionalism exhibited by the personnel, specifically praising their performance during Operation Sindoor. This high-precision strike operation successfully targeted terrorist strongholds and garnered acclaim for its coordination and effectiveness. He emphasized the Chetak Corps’ crucial role in this operation and reiterated its strategic importance in protecting the sensitive regions of Punjab and Rajasthan.
Delivering his remarks from a podium adorned with the emblem of the Regiment of Artillery, known for its historic motto, “Gods’ Own,” Lt Gen Singh highlighted the long-standing legacy of the regiment. Established in 1827, it has played a significant role in various historical events, including the 1857 rebellion, and remains a foundational component of the Indian Army’s modern structure.
Having extensive experience in counter-insurgency operations along the Line of Control, Lt Gen Manjinder Singh is well-positioned to enhance the readiness and operational synergy of the Sapta Shakti Command.
