Dhayal Twins Commissioned as Lieutenants in Indian Army, Continuing Family Legacy of Service

In a remarkable display of commitment to service and excellence, siblings Divya and Digvijay Dhayal have both been commissioned as Lieutenants in the Indian Army, marking a significant chapter in their journey of dedication to the nation. Hailing from a military family and skilled archers, the twins have added the distinguished olive green uniform to their long list of accomplishments.

Born in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and raised in Pune, the Dhayal twins are the children of Colonel Vikram Singh Dhayal, a serving officer in the Indian Army. Growing up in an environment steeped in discipline, patriotism, and resilience, they attended Army Public School and later pursued higher studies at Symbiosis Institute. Under their father’s guidance, they honed their skills in archery, achieving success at both national and international levels.

Divya, the elder of the two, was commissioned into the Army in September 2023 after successfully passing the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination. She first garnered attention as an exceptional archer, becoming a national champion at just 15 years old and representing India in prestigious international competitions such as the Archery World Cup and the World Archery Youth Championship.

Following closely in his sister’s footsteps, Digvijay was commissioned as a Lieutenant on June 14, 2025, after completing intense training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. Like his sister, he boasts an impressive athletic background, having secured medals at prominent events like the Asia Cup and various international archery tournaments.

Their commissioning is both a personal triumph and a tribute to a proud family legacy. Their uncle, Captain Anil Dhayal, was martyred in Kashmir in 1998, a sacrifice that deeply impacted the family and served as an inspiration for the next generation to serve their country.

In a conversation with the media, Digvijay expressed his pride in following his sister into the Army. “I like that she is my senior. We are twins, and I will always be proud to salute her,” he remarked. Divya echoed his sentiments, stating, “We took the same path, studied at the same college, and have entered the same occupation. I feel proud and happy. He got what he wanted.”

The journey of the Dhayal twins is a celebration of shared aspirations, determination, and a heritage of honor. From earning medals for India to donning the uniform of the Army, Divya and Digvijay exemplify the spirit of the nation’s youth, their dreams, and their commitment to serve a purpose greater than themselves.
