During his visit, Lt Gen Rathee commended the troops on their exceptional state of readiness and their ability to adapt to emerging operational challenges. Established in 1987, the Konark Corps, often referred to as the Desert Corps, has consistently played a crucial role in protecting India’s western borders. The Corps is headquartered in Jodhpur and draws its insignia from the revered Konark Sun Temple, symbolizing its strength and resilience in the face of extreme desert conditions.
This review aligns with previous high-level assessments, including those from Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, which underscore the Army’s priority of advanced training in challenging terrains. According to a 2020 RAND Corporation study, effective training combined with rigorous equipment maintenance could enhance military preparedness by as much as 30% in challenging environments—a benchmark the Konark Corps seems to be meeting.
Dhrangadhra Military Station, located in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district, boasts a rich military and cultural history. The name “Dhrangadhra” translates to “stable land,” reflective of its historical significance as a military outpost.
During his visit, Lt Gen Rathee engaged in discussions with commanders and troops, stressing the importance of integrating cutting-edge training and technological advancements to effectively counter evolving threats.
