The Indian Air Force’s elite Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) is poised to captivate audiences in Hisar this Sunday, September 21, as part of the ongoing “Know Your Forces” campaign led by the Sapta Shakti Command. This event promises a spectacular aerial display featuring the advanced BAE Hawk Mk.132 jets, which will execute intricate maneuvers while leaving mesmerizing tricolour smoke trails in their wake.

The main aim of this performance is to strengthen ties between the military and civilian communities while also inspiring the youth to consider careers in defense. In the lead-up to the event, members of the Suryakiran team engaged with students from the Army Public School in Hisar, sharing their experiences and insights into the nuances of aerobatic flying. This interaction serves to deepen the connection between the Air Force and the local community.

The aerial display is expected to attract an audience comprising dignitaries, military veterans, students, and local citizens, all eager to witness the skill and artistry of the Suryakiran team. Established in 1996 and currently stationed at Bidar Air Force Station in Karnataka, the Suryakiran team has a rich legacy of entertaining spectators in India and abroad for nearly thirty years. Since 2015, they have been utilizing specially configured Hawk Mk.132 aircraft, equipped with smoke canisters to enhance the visual impact of their performance.

The initiative by the Sapta Shakti Command, which is headquartered in Jaipur and has historically focused on the western border, signifies a shift towards greater public engagement and outreach. This event not only showcases the technical prowess of the Indian Air Force but also aims to nurture a sense of pride and awareness among the younger generation regarding the capabilities of their armed forces.
