Shri Aloke Kumar Chakraborty Assumes Charge as Inspector General, Tripura Frontier, BSF

In a noteworthy transition within the Border Security Force (BSF), Shri Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has officially assumed the role of Inspector General (IG) of the Tripura Frontier. He takes over from Shri A. K. Sharma, who has been reassigned to Manipur.

The formal handover ceremony took place at the BSF Frontier Headquarters in Salbagan, where a gathering of senior officers, personnel, and staff marked the significance of this event.

Shri Chakraborty arrives in this role as a highly decorated officer, boasting an impressive service record. He has been honored with several awards, including the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, the UNMIK Medal for his contributions to United Nations peacekeeping efforts in Kosovo, and the Ati Utkrisht Sewa Padak, which acknowledges his exceptional contributions to national security and border management.

His career has been characterized by a wide range of assignments that include operational, instructional, and administrative responsibilities. With extensive experience along the Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Pakistan borders, as well as on the Line of Control, Shri Chakraborty has also participated in Anti-Naxal operations in difficult terrains. His commitment to maintaining high professional standards has earned him widespread respect among his peers in the force.

As he steps into his new role, Shri Chakraborty will oversee critical BSF operations along the Indo-Bangladesh border, which is particularly sensitive to issues such as cross-border crimes, infiltration, and smuggling. His leadership is anticipated to emphasize operational efficiency and improve coordination with local law enforcement. Additionally, he aims to enhance the welfare and morale of BSF personnel deployed in the remote border regions.

The BSF Tripura Frontier, based in Salbagan, Agartala, guards a significant portion of the India-Bangladesh border. It plays a vital role in ensuring border security, combating illegal infiltration, and fostering peace in nearby villages. The Frontier is also involved in various community engagement initiatives, seeking to strengthen ties between the BSF and the local population.
