Major General Ramesh Shanmugham, the Additional Director General of the NCC Kerala & Lakshadweep Directorate, conducted an Administrative Inspection at the Ernakulam Group Headquarters on November 1, 2025. His arrival was met with a warm welcome from Commodore Jose Vikas, the Group Commander.
During his visit, Maj Gen Shanmugham engaged in discussions with Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), Cadets, and Civilian Staff. He expressed admiration for their professionalism and discipline, highlighting the high training standards upheld by the group. The General acknowledged the significant role played by these individuals in the National Cadet Corps’ mission of shaping future leaders.
A key focus of his address was cadet safety, which he stated must be prioritized in all NCC activities. Drawing from his extensive military and administrative experience, he encouraged staff and officers to embrace technology to enhance efficiency, communication, and transparency in both training and administrative functions. His emphasis on continuous innovation served as a reminder of the necessity to adapt to changing training methodologies.
Commodore Jose Vikas briefed Maj Gen Shanmugham on the various initiatives and achievements of the Ernakulam Group, including efforts to boost youth participation and community engagement. The Group’s integration of modern instructional tools was also discussed, reflecting a commitment to the NCC’s core values of discipline, unity, and patriotism.
Wrapping up his visit, Maj Gen Shanmugham delivered an inspiring address to the cadets, underscoring the significance of discipline, responsibility, and service to the nation. He urged them to strive for excellence in all aspects of life and to embody the essence of the NCC motto, “Unity and Discipline.”
