The North Eastern Region Trek-II (NER Trek-II), a significant all-India NCC trekking camp, has officially commenced at the 24 Assam Rifles Complex in Wokha, Nagaland. This event marks a historic milestone for the picturesque hill district as it runs from November 4 to 11, 2025. Organized under the auspices of the NCC North Eastern Region Directorate (NCC NER Dte), the camp has attracted 510 cadets from various states including Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and the Northeastern Region.
The inaugural event not only celebrates adventure but also promotes cultural exchange and national integration, showcasing the stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Nagaland. It aims to cultivate a spirit of teamwork, discipline, and self-reliance among the participating cadets, resonating with the NCC’s broader mission of developing leadership qualities and character in the youth.
Throughout the eight-day camp, cadets will be engaged in day hikes to breathtaking locations such as Mount Tiyi, Doyang Dam, and New Wokha Village. These excursions are not only designed to challenge their physical endurance and mental resilience but also to provide a platform for fostering teamwork and adventure. The participants are divided into four trekking groups, each tasked with navigating diverse terrains that enhance their experiences.
In addition to trekking activities, the cadets will have the opportunity to attend the Mini Hornbill Festival, where they can immerse themselves in Nagaland’s rich traditions, music, and heritage. This cultural component emphasizes the theme of India’s unity in diversity, allowing participants to gain a deeper appreciation for the region’s unique identity.
The camp was officially flagged off by Brigadier Shantanu P. Mainkar, Group Commander of NCC Group Kohima. In his address, he encouraged the cadets to seize this opportunity for personal growth and national bonding. Brigadier Mainkar praised the enthusiasm of the participants and underscored the pivotal role of the NCC in empowering youth while promoting inter-state harmony.
The NER Trek-II Camp stands as a powerful testament to the NCC’s dedication to adventure, discipline, and camaraderie. In bringing together cadets from all corners of India within the stunning backdrop of Nagaland, the camp exemplifies the core values of “Unity and Discipline,” which serve as the guiding motto of the National Cadet Corps.
