Vice Admiral Ankur Sharma has officially taken on the role of Director General Naval Projects (Mumbai) as of December 1, 2025. This appointment is a crucial development in the Indian Navy’s hierarchy, particularly in the realms of technical expertise and project management.

With a robust career that spans more than 36 years, Vice Admiral Sharma has accumulated extensive experience through various afloat and shore assignments. His contributions to specialized technical disciplines have been vital for bolstering naval operations and advancing infrastructure projects. Following his elevation to Flag Rank, he served as Director General of Weapons Engineering & Systems Evaluation (DG WESEE) and subsequently took on the role of Assistant Director of Naval Dockyard in Mumbai (ASD). In his new capacity, he will oversee significant naval projects in the Mumbai region, succeeding his predecessor in this pivotal position.
