Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command, recently visited the newly inaugurated Community Radio Station, Radio IBEX Tarana 88.4 FM in Harsil. His visit underscored the Indian Army’s commitment to enhancing information access and fostering connections within local communities in the remote Himalayan region.
During his visit, Lt Gen Sengupta engaged with the radio station team, expressing admiration for their commitment and effectiveness in reaching listeners throughout the valley. He recognized the significant role grassroots communication plays in promoting community awareness and local participation, stating that timely dissemination of information is crucial for the region’s development.
The Army Commander also took the opportunity to review ongoing development efforts under the Vibrant Villages Programme, emphasizing the Indian Army’s dedication to supporting remote border communities. He noted the importance of improved communication networks and outreach initiatives in bridging the gap between these communities and essential services.
