The recent conclusion of the 14th edition of the Admiral’s Cup Regatta at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) marked a significant milestone for the event, boasting record participation from over 31 countries. This turnout represents the largest in the history of this acclaimed international sailing competition, further solidifying its reputation on the global stage.

Among the notable participants was a contingent from the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN), led by Lieutenant Commander Prasad Chavan. Representing the Navy were Midshipman Andrea Hawke and Sub-Lieutenant Georgia Bilby, both of whom made history as New Zealand was the only participating nation to field two female athletes in the regatta. This move underscores the RNZN’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence within naval sports.

The regatta unfolded over four rigorous days, featuring eight tightly contested races under demanding conditions, including temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius. The challenging environment tested the resilience and skills of all competitors. Midshipman Andrea Hawke and Sub-Lieutenant Georgia Bilby showcased remarkable endurance and sailing prowess, earning admiration from officials and fellow participants alike for their seamanship and navigation abilities.

Hawke’s performance throughout the event was particularly stellar; she consistently finished strong in all races, culminating in her receiving a Silver Medal in the female athlete category. This accomplishment is a testament to her hard work and talent at an intensely competitive international level.

The impressive showing by the RNZN sailors not only highlighted their individual skills but also contributed significantly to the overall success and camaraderie of the Admiral’s Cup Regatta. The event reaffirmed INA’s reputation as a leading venue for promoting international naval collaboration, sporting excellence, and maritime capabilities.
