Among the notable participants was a contingent from the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN), led by Lieutenant Commander Prasad Chavan. Representing the Navy were Midshipman Andrea Hawke and Sub-Lieutenant Georgia Bilby, both of whom made history as New Zealand was the only participating nation to field two female athletes in the regatta.
