Commodore Subhal Nathan, NM, has officially taken command of INS Zamorin, the prestigious Base Depot Ship for the Indian Naval Academy (INA) located in Ezhimala, Kerala. The change of command took place on December 29, marking a significant transition in leadership at this critical training institution.
Commodore Nathan, a Gunnery specialist and a distinguished recipient of the Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry), comes to this role with a wealth of operational and staff experience. His track record includes commanding frontline naval units such as INS Kalpeni and INS Deepak, where he exhibited exceptional leadership across various maritime operations.
Throughout his career, Commodore Nathan has held several important staff positions within the Indian Navy, including roles at Naval Headquarters, the Headquarters Western Naval Command, and the Maritime Domain Awareness Centre. In these capacities, he has made substantial contributions to operational planning, maritime security, and initiatives aimed at enhancing domain awareness.
In his new role as the Commanding Officer of INS Zamorin, Commodore Nathan will be instrumental in ensuring that the officer cadets receive comprehensive administrative, logistical, and training support. His leadership is expected to further solidify the Indian Navy’s dedication to maintaining high standards in training and leadership development for future naval officers.
