Commodore Aashish Sharma has officially taken command of the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Mandovi from Commodore R B Timmapurkar during a formal change-of-command ceremony held on December 31, 2025. Cmde Sharma is a seasoned Communications and Electronic Warfare (EW) specialist with extensive operational and instructional experience derived from a commendable naval career. His educational background includes distinguished institutions such as the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and the Naval War College, which have equipped him with the knowledge and skills essential for his new role.
Throughout his career, Cmde Sharma has held multiple pivotal command and staff positions, demonstrating his leadership capabilities. His notable appointments include serving as the Commanding Officer of INS Konkan and INS Kattabomman, as well as overseeing operations at the Signal School. Additionally, he played crucial roles at the Headquarters Western Naval Command, where he contributed to operational planning and maritime communications as the Chief Planner and Chief Communications Officer.
