In a significant development in the battle against organized smuggling, the Assam Rifles, operating under the guidance of Spear Corps, executed a successful joint operation in Agartala, Tripura, in collaboration with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
During the operation, security forces made a substantial seizure of approximately 14 kg of gold biscuits, which are valued at around ₹19 crore, alongside Indian currency amounting to ₹2.87 crore. This operation was the culmination of coordinated intelligence efforts aimed at addressing and reducing cross-border smuggling and other illicit financial activities prevalent in the region.
Authorities confirmed that the confiscated gold and cash have been transferred to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for further investigation and necessary legal action. This operation underscores the importance of effective inter-agency coordination and the ongoing dedication of security forces to dismantling smuggling networks that operate within the Northeast.
