In a significant development for defense logistics, Lieutenant General VMB Krishnan, the Quartermaster General of the Indian Army, recently inaugurated the Modernised Fresh Ration Management System at The Desert Feeders located in the Jodhpur Military Station. This initiative represents a critical advancement in enhancing efficiency, quality control, and sustainability within military supply chains.

The new system is specifically designed to improve the standards of fresh ration supply and management. It aims to meet the operational needs of not only the Indian Army but also the Indian Air Force, the Border Roads Organisation (GREF), and the Defence Laboratory in Jodhpur. By focusing on rigorous processes and advanced technology, the system seeks to optimize ration handling and distribution.

Officials have indicated that the implementation of the modernised system is projected to save an impressive 306,000 man-hours annually. Additionally, it aims to lower the carbon footprint by approximately 180 tonnes every year, highlighting the Army’s commitment to sustainability alongside its operational objectives.

During the inauguration, Lt Gen Krishnan expressed his appreciation for the innovation and professionalism demonstrated by the personnel involved in this project. He emphasized the importance of such reforms in strengthening backend logistics, enhancing troop welfare, and ensuring mission readiness across various military services.

This initiative not only reflects the Indian Army’s dedication to modernizing its logistics systems but also underscores a broader commitment to eco-friendly practices and efficient operations that can adapt to the evolving demands of joint and integrated military operations.
