21 Jat Regiment Soldiers Perform Kanyadaan for Late Soldier’s Daughter

In a powerful demonstration of solidarity and familial bonds, both serving and retired members of the 21 Jat Regiment came together to support the wedding of Prachi, the daughter of their late colleague, Havildar Harendra Singh. This poignant occasion took place on March 9, 2026, at Basant Garden in Baghpat, ensuring that the bride felt surrounded by love and support despite her father’s absence on this momentous day.

Havildar Harendra Singh, a dedicated soldier, tragically lost his life in a road accident in Arunachal Pradesh in 2020, leaving behind his wife, Amrita, their daughter Prachi, and two sons, Harshit and Akshit. In a heartfelt tribute to his memory, the regiment stepped in to fulfill the paternal role that was left vacant.

Upon receiving the wedding invitation, 14 soldiers from the regiment took the initiative to attend, donning their uniforms as a symbol of their commitment and camaraderie. They did not merely attend as guests; they assumed full responsibility for the bride’s side, ensuring that every traditional paternal ritual was honored. From welcoming the groom’s baraat to conducting the jaimala, where Prachi was ceremoniously carried on the soldiers’ palms, to the sacred kanyadaan and the saat phere — they ensured that the ceremony was filled with love and reverence.

In a remarkable show of generosity, the soldiers contributed approximately ₹6.5 lakh towards the kanyadaan, further easing the burden on the grieving family and highlighting their unwavering support. Among the attendees were notable figures such as Retired Honorary Captain Yashpal Singh and several other retired officers, each playing a significant role in creating a meaningful experience for the bride and her family.

The heartwarming moments were captured on video, which rapidly gained traction on social media, inspiring admiration across the nation. Community members described the event as deeply emotional, with the wedding serving as a testament to the military’s enduring commitment to stand by their comrades’ families, underscoring a profound sense of duty, honor, and unity.

The Singh family expressed immense gratitude toward the regiment, noting that the soldiers’ presence transformed what could have been a day marked by sorrow into one filled with joy and pride. This act of compassion reinforces the public’s faith in the values that define India’s armed forces.

As the story continues to circulate, it has resonated with many, prompting widespread respect and accolades for the 21 Jat Regiment. This act of familial support and brotherhood showcases the deep connections and responsibilities that extend beyond military service, embodying the essence of “fauji brotherhood.”
