On March 14, 2026, the Mantripukhri Battalion of the Assam Rifles held a heartfelt felicitation ceremony to honor Lieutenant Wikhamlubou Pamei, a young officer who was recently commissioned into the Indian Army from the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai. The event was attended by senior officials of the Assam Rifles, along with troops, marking a significant occasion to celebrate Lt Pamei’s achievement and to inspire the youth of the region to consider careers in the armed forces.
Hailing from Kuilong village in Tamenglong district of Manipur, Lt Pamei’s journey has been remarkable. Now residing in Kanglatongbi, Imphal West, his rise from a remote village to a commissioned officer has created a sense of immense pride throughout his community and family.
During the ceremony, various speakers expressed how Lt Pamei’s achievement exemplifies qualities of perseverance, dedication, and a strong commitment to serving the nation.
