An Israeli missile struck the building housing the Al Araby news channel in Tehran, resulting in significant damage and the suspension of live broadcasts. The incident, reported by the Qatari news outlet on Sunday, revealed extensive destruction within the office, as shown in footage that captured broken windows and debris scattered throughout the space.
Images from the scene depicted a chaotic aftermath, with debris covering the surrounding streets and damage evident on adjacent buildings. The precise target of the missile remains unclear, but Al Araby’s office is located in a residential area of northeastern Tehran.
Hazem Kallas, the bureau chief of Al Araby, was actively engaged in reporting on the ongoing conflict when the missile impacted. He shared a video on social media platform X, showcasing the four-storey building with significant damage, notably to the first and second floors. Kallas emphasized that the area is a blend of residential and commercial spaces, noting that the stricken building also hosted a physiotherapy center, a beauty salon, a dental clinic, and a café.
This assault coincides with escalating tensions in the region, as the war ignited on February 28, following coordinated strikes by Israel and the United States against Iran, which resulted in the death of the country’s supreme leader. This military action has since fueled a broader conflict throughout the Middle East.
Additionally, reports from March 2 indicated that Russian state-run RT television’s office in northern Tehran sustained damage from an Israeli strike, underscoring the intensifying nature of the conflict and its repercussions on foreign and domestic media operations within the Iranian capital.
