The Delhi Police have apprehended two individuals linked to the alleged assault on a serving Indian Army Brigadier and his family in Vasant Enclave. The suspects, identified as Satender alias Sonu, a 49-year-old director of an aviation firm, and Sanjay Sharma, a 56-year-old local dhaba owner, are both residents of Mehram Nagar and were taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.

The incident reportedly unfolded around 10 PM on April 11, when the officer’s family confronted the two men, who were allegedly drinking alcohol in a car parked near their home. Tensions escalated when the accused reportedly summoned additional individuals to the location.

According to the family’s complaint, a group of 7–8 men assaulted the Brigadier and his 23-year-old son, an IIT-Delhi graduate, and behaved inappropriately towards the officer’s wife during the altercation.

In light of the allegations, the police response has come under scrutiny. The family claims that although a PCR vehicle arrived at the scene, the police personnel present failed to intervene effectively during the assault.

Authorities have confirmed that the vehicle associated with the accused has been seized, and both suspects are currently being questioned to clarify the sequence of events and their respective roles in the incident. A preliminary inquiry has revealed lapses on the part of the investigating officer, who has since been reassigned to District Lines as the investigation continues.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has expressed his concern over the incident and has directed authorities to ensure a thorough investigation. He emphasized the importance of providing adequate security to the officer and his family, underlining the administration’s commitment to upholding law and order.

The case has sparked discussions surrounding public safety and the effectiveness of police response protocols in the national capital. Officials have indicated that the investigation is ongoing and that further arrests may occur as new evidence comes to light.
