US Army Selects ATX Defense for Cybersecurity Initiative in Defense Supply Chain

The U.S. Army has announced the selection of ATX Defense as one of eight companies to participate in the Next-Gen Commercial Operations in the Defending Enclave (NCODE) program. This initiative aims to fortify cybersecurity within the defense industrial base, focusing on compliance with the Department of Defense’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) framework.

Valued at up to $49 million, the NCODE program spans five years and directly addresses the growing challenge defense suppliers face in meeting stringent cybersecurity standards. The Pentagon has increasingly tightened compliance requirements due to rising concerns about vulnerabilities in the defense supply chain. Consequently, many upcoming defense contracts will stipulate that companies must comply with these cybersecurity standards to qualify for or retain work that involves sensitive governmental information.

Central to this initiative is the NCODE Marketplace, an online platform where approved vendors, including ATX Defense, will provide cybersecurity and compliance services to defense contractors aiming for CMMC certification. ATX Defense will leverage its innovative CMMC Space platform, a tool designed to facilitate the management of security controls, documentation, and other necessary steps for achieving CMMC Level 2 certification, a critical standard for handling Controlled Unclassified Information.

“Small businesses need someone in their corner who actually understands the problem from their side,” emphasized Shawn Kotoske, co-founder of ATX Defense, regarding the motivation behind creating CMMC Space. The platform, built on Google Cloud and Google Workspace infrastructure, has reportedly assisted over 70 defense contractors in successfully achieving CMMC Level 2 certification.

As the defense sector continues to navigate the complexities of cybersecurity regulations, initiatives like NCODE are crucial in ensuring that contractors are well-equipped to meet the evolving demands of federal compliance.
