Security agencies have arrested a 20-year-old man in the Itarana Military Cantonment area of Rajasthan’s Alwar district on suspicion of espionage related to Pakistan. The apprehended individual has been identified as Kundan Bishnoi, a resident of Jodhpur. He is currently under interrogation by various intelligence and security agencies.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Bishnoi was in contact with a Pakistani Intelligence Operative (PIO) and allegedly collected and disseminated information regarding Indian Army cantonments and other sensitive sites in exchange for money. Authorities are examining his communications, financial transactions, and potential connections to a broader espionage network.

Bishnoi reportedly gained entry to the cantonment area through a friend who resides within the military station. His activities raised red flags on Sunday night when Army personnel observed him conversing with a female student inside the cantonment premises. After an initial inquiry by military officials, the case was escalated to Army Intelligence and then to the Military Intelligence Area (MIA) Police Station in Alwar.

A joint task force consisting of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and other intelligence entities is actively investigating the situation. Inspectors have begun reviewing the suspect’s mobile phone and digital records, reportedly discovering evidence that suggests he utilized social media platforms, notably Instagram, to establish connections with students living near the cantonment. Allegedly, he built rapport by frequently communicating and sending expensive gifts during special events.

Investigators are also looking into claims that Bishnoi transmitted sensitive information during Operation Sindoor, a significant Indian military initiative conducted in 2025. These allegations are currently under review, and authorities have not disclosed specific details regarding the content or significance of any information allegedly shared.

Officials suspect that Bishnoi may have received financial incentives for gathering and transmitting information; however, the particulars of these transactions are still being verified.

Alwar Superintendent of Police Sudhir Chaudhary confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, emphasizing that further information will be released following a thorough assessment of the evidence. Security agencies are intensifying their scrutiny of the suspect’s contacts, digital footprint, and possible connections to determine if this incident is part of a larger espionage scheme operating in the region.
