Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu recently delivered an address at the Marshal of the Indian Air Force Memorial Lecture, where he paid heartfelt tributes to the legendary Marshal of the Air Force, Arjan Singh. Recognised as one of India’s most distinguished military figures, Arjan Singh’s life and service represent an enduring inspiration for the entire nation.
During his speech, Sandhu noted that Arjan Singh’s remarkable life was deeply intertwined with many pivotal events in India’s post-independence history. He specifically praised the legendary Air Force officer for his exemplary leadership during the 1965 Indo-Pak War, a role for which he received the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honour.
Sandhu further acknowledged Arjan Singh’s contributions over and above his military service, referencing his significant tenure as a diplomat and later as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Throughout his varied roles, Singh exemplified dedication and integrity, traits that remained consistent with his military ethos.
