Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, recently visited both the Directorate of Marine Design Engineering (DMDE) and the Controller of Naval Armament (Depot Production) (CNA(DP)) located in Hyderabad. This visit aimed to review various ongoing initiatives that are crucial for enhancing indigenous capability development and ensuring operational readiness within the Indian Navy.
During his visit, Vice Admiral Bhalla expressed appreciation for the innovative approaches adopted by both organizations. He acknowledged their efforts in the indigenisation of naval equipment and armaments, emphasizing the critical role of collaboration with industry partners. Such partnerships are essential for the development of indigenous technologies, thereby bolstering capability-building within the Navy, which aligns with the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharatโself-reliance in defense manufacturing.
The Vice Admiral also took the opportunity to assess the progress of multiple projects underway at the DMDE and CNA(DP). Beyond his engagement with DMDE and CNA(DP), Vice Admiral Bhalla reviewed the operational activities of Indian Navy units stationed in the Hyderabad and Secunderabad regions. In addition to these operational reviews, he dedicated time to interact with Naval Veterans, recognizing their invaluable contributions to military service.
