In a significant advancement for India’s defence manufacturing sector, Adani Defence and Aerospace has initiated the construction of a ₹2,500 crore missile manufacturing facility in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. The foundation stone for this ambitious project was ceremonially laid by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on July 6, 2026.
Dr. Yadav highlighted the project as a pivotal moment in the state’s industrial and economic growth, emphasizing its potential to transform Madhya Pradesh into a hub for defence production. The facility is poised to address long-standing deficiencies in India’s defence supply chain by integrating the assembly of missile systems with the manufacturing of essential components and materials, marking a significant shift towards self-sufficiency.
The establishment of this facility is expected to facilitate the large-scale induction of indigenous missile systems into the Indian Armed Forces, contributing to national security while reinforcing India’s commitment to self-reliance in defence production. During the ceremony, Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that the plant would not only generate substantial employment opportunities but also attract significant investments to the region. He expressed confidence that Madhya Pradesh would emerge as one of the leading states in the defence manufacturing sector.
As part of India’s broader strategic vision, the missile manufacturing complex is anticipated to enhance domestic capabilities in advanced missile technologies and strategic defence systems. This initiative aligns closely with the government’s objective of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, aimed at bolstering the country’s defence industrial base and reducing dependency on foreign suppliers.
Overall, this development marks a crucial step in enhancing India’s indigenous capabilities in defence manufacturing, signaling a commitment to innovation and security within the sector.
