Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit began his tenure as the 29th Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) of the Indian Air Force (IAF) with a visit that carried both operational and personal significance. On November 1, 2026, he toured a forward air base that he had earlier commanded, making it his first official visit after assuming charge of the service.
According to the visit report, the Air Chief reviewed the base’s operational preparedness and examined its capabilities, infrastructure and readiness to carry out assigned missions. The assessment was aimed at confirming that the formation remains prepared to meet emerging operational requirements.
He also spent time with personnel at the base, including Agniveervayu and women Agniveervayu, and noted their role in strengthening the Indian Air Force’s combat potential and operational effectiveness.
Air Chief Marshal Dixit further highlighted the importance of young air warriors in maintaining the IAF’s readiness and in handling the changing demands of modern air operations.

The visit is being seen as a significant early moment in his tenure, reflecting continued engagement with frontline formations and with the personnel responsible for safeguarding India’s airspace.

His return to a base he once led also underlined the value placed on operational leadership, preparedness and direct interaction with air force personnel serving at the forefront of India’s military aviation commitments.
