Jagannath Rath Yatra 2026
The Jagannath Rath Yatra is one of India’s oldest and most revered Hindu festivals, celebrated with immense devotion in Puri, Odisha. Cabinet Approves 10 GWh Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Manufacturing
The Government of India has taken another major step towards strengthening domestic battery manufacturing by inviting global bids for 10 GWh of Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery manufacturing capacity under the National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell Battery Storage. The initiative supports India’s transition towards clean energy, electric mobility, and energy security.
The programme was approved by the Union Cabinet in May 2021 with a total budgetary outlay of ₹18,100 crore under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme. The overall objective is to establish 50 GWh of domestic ACC battery manufacturing capacity.
The newly announced 10 GWh capacity is dedicated to grid-scale stationary energy storage, helping improve renewable energy integration and electricity reliability.
Previously, 40 GWh had already been allocated to Reliance New Energy Battery Limited, Ola Electric, and Rajesh Exports, while the remaining capacity will now be awarded through competitive bidding.

The Union Cabinet has approved Semicon Mission 2.0 and a new Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme, reinforcing India’s ambition to become a global hub for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing. The decisions were announced on 15 July 2026.
Semicon Mission 2.0 has a financial outlay of ₹1.27 lakh crore and extends the semiconductor programme from 5 years to 12 years. Alongside this, the government approved a ₹62,500 crore Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme, which replaces the earlier PLI Scheme for Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing (PLI-LSEM). The scheme will operate from FY 2026–27 to FY 2030–31.
Manufacturers will receive incentives ranging from 2.25% to 5% on eligible sales. Additional incentives are available for domestic sourcing of components and investments in design and research, encouraging higher value addition within India.
