In a significant step towards enhancing the Indian Navy’s training capabilities, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), virtually inaugurated new squadrons at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) on May 26, 2026. This development underscores the Navy’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of maritime leaders.
The expansion of the INA’s trainee capacity to an eight-squadron configuration marks a crucial milestone in fortifying the Navy’s training ecosystem. This enhancement is aimed at preparing future officers to address the evolving operational demands of modern maritime challenges.
During the inauguration, Admiral Tripathi articulated that this initiative is not merely about expanding physical infrastructure. Instead, he framed it as a strategic investment in the Navy’s most crucial asset—its personnel, who embody the dedication and discipline of the service. He emphasized the importance of the Indian Naval Academy in cultivating officers who can navigate an increasingly complex and technologically advanced maritime landscape while upholding the foundational values of Duty, Honour, and Courage.
Describing the INA as a benchmark of “Vision Into Reality” and one of the premier naval academies globally, Admiral Tripathi urged cadets to maximize their experiences within the academy’s world-class training environment. He highlighted that their training is not just preparation for a career but a commitment to a lifetime of service to both the nation and the Navy.
