Leading Air Ordnance Mechanic (LAOM) Kuldeep Diwach of the Indian Navy was recently laid to rest with full military honours in his hometown of Ghardu, located in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district. This poignant farewell came following his tragic death resulting from a severe accident in Mumbai.
Kuldeep, who was actively serving with Air Squadron 330 at INS Shikra, suffered critical injuries after an uprooted tree fell on him during a violent storm while he was riding his scooter to report for duty on July 6. Despite receiving extensive medical treatment, he sadly succumbed to his injuries three days later on July 9.
In a show of respect and gratitude for his service, a special contingent from the Indian Navy accompanied his mortal remains back to Ghardu. The community came together to honor Kuldeep with a Tiranga Yatra, which saw local residents, schoolchildren, ex-servicemen, and members of various social organizations participating in the journey from Surajgarh to Ghardu village, paying tribute to the fallen sailor along the way.
The funeral service was marked by full military honours, including a solemn Guard of Honour provided by the Indian Navy. His elder brother, Pradeep, who serves in the Indian Air Force, performed the final rites by lighting the funeral pyre, surrounded by family, public representatives, and serving defence personnel.
Born on July 10, 1999, Kuldeep enlisted in the Indian Navy in 2018, making the day of his funeral particularly poignant, falling on both his birthday and the anniversary of his enlistment. He leaves behind a grieving family, including his mother, wife, an 18-month-old daughter, and his elder brother.
As the nation mourns the loss of this young sailor, Kuldeep Diwach is remembered for his unwavering dedication and the ultimate sacrifice he made in service to his country.
