In a pivotal visit, Major General Manish Kumar, YSM, SM**, the Additional Director General (ADG) of Headquarters Recruiting Zone for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, toured the Army Recruiting Office (ARO) in Lansdowne during a crucial phase of candidate dispatch for the recruitment year 2025–26. This visit coincided with a significant surge in recruitment activity, which has seen a threefold increase in vacancies compared to previous cycles.

Maj Gen Kumar’s primary objective was to oversee ongoing recruitment operations and to ensure efficient management amidst this unprecedented influx of candidates. During his visit, he took the opportunity to interact with aspiring Agniveers, congratulating them on reaching an advanced stage of the recruitment process. His message was one of encouragement, offering insights into the values of military service, the essence of leadership, and the responsibilities that come with joining the Indian Army.

Colonel R.S. Panwar, the Director of Recruiting at ARO Lansdowne, provided the ADG with a comprehensive briefing concerning preparations for upcoming recruitment rallies scheduled for 2027. This briefing also covered a myriad of technological and infrastructural improvements that have been implemented over the past year, focused on enhancing transparency, efficiency, and candidate administration throughout the recruitment process. Such enhancements reflect the Indian Army’s commitment to modernizing its procedures, ensuring a fair and candidate-friendly recruitment experience.

In addition to meeting with candidates, Maj Gen Kumar engaged in discussions with Brigadier V.S. Negi, VSM, Commandant of the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre (GRRC). This engagement aimed at evaluating and enhancing the post-recruitment training curriculum for new Agniveers, ensuring that the training aligns with current operational demands while upholding high standards of military professionalism.

The visit wrapped up with Maj Gen Kumar connecting directly with both candidates and recruitment staff, fostering morale and reinforcing the Indian Army’s dedication to developing the next generation of soldiers.
