Major General Sanjay Maurya Assumes Charge as Commandant of AICTS Pune

Major General Sanjay Maurya, a distinguished officer of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), is now the Commandant of the Armed Forces Institute of Transfusion (AICTS) in Pune, having taken on the role on July 20, 2026. Known for his extensive background in military medicine, academic excellence, and hospital administration, Maj Gen Maurya is set to play a pivotal role in advancing transfusion medicine and specialist healthcare.

An alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, Maj Gen Maurya is a renowned Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, celebrated for his skills in complex reconstructive procedures. His career has been marked by significant contributions to advancing surgical care within the Armed Forces and an impressive legacy as a respected postgraduate teacher, mentoring many military surgeons and medical professionals.

Maj Gen Maurya’s prior leadership roles include serving as the Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at both AFMC Pune and the Army Hospital (Research & Referral) in New Delhi. In these high-profile appointments, he was instrumental in elevating clinical standards, facilitating specialist training, and advancing medical research, particularly in the field of reconstructive surgery.

His command experience includes leading the 92 Base Hospital in an operational area, where he provided critical medical support in challenging environments. Additionally, his tenure at the Command Hospital (Eastern Command) in Kolkata, one of the largest tertiary care military hospitals in the region, showcased his exceptional skills in healthcare administration and leadership.

Recognized for his remarkable service, Maj Gen Maurya is a recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM), awarded for his outstanding contributions to military healthcare, patient care, medical education, and institutional development.
