Hyderabad, 14 October 2026: Sigma Advanced Systems Limited (SASL) has entered into an exclusive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Munitions India Limited (MIL) to work on the integration, indigenous manufacturing and supply of 155 mm artillery course-correction fuzes (CCF), along with related components, subsystems and technologies.

The agreement is meant to support the development of next-generation indigenous capability in precision-guided artillery ammunition. According to the source, it also supports ongoing critical programmes of the Indian Armed Forces through technology development, integration and localisation, while aligning with the Government of India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat priorities.

What the partnership covers

Course-correction technology allows artillery projectiles to adjust their trajectory during flight, which can improve accuracy and overall operational effectiveness. The source says that building an indigenous capability in this area is expected to strengthen India’s defence technology ecosystem and reduce dependence on imported solutions.

Under the MoU, Sigma will support technology transfer, qualification, local manufacturing and integration of advanced course-correction solutions in India. The programme will use the Course Correction Guidance Kit, which the company describes as a mature solution already used by international customers.

Statements from Sigma

Sunil Kalidindi, Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Advanced Systems, said the collaboration with Munitions India Limited marks an important step in advancing indigenous precision-guided artillery capabilities in India.

He said, “The collaboration with Munitions India Limited marks an important step in advancing indigenous precision-guided artillery capabilities in India. By bringing proven course correction guidance technology with MIL’s established ammunition manufacturing capabilities and Sigma’s engineering and programme execution strengths, we aim to build meaningful domestic capabilities in a strategically important defence segment.

This initiative reflects our commitment to going beyond localisation towards developing a stronger indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem, in line with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. We see this collaboration as an opportunity to contribute to the evolving requirements of the Indian Armed Forces while strengthening India’s position as a centre for advanced defence manufacturing.”

Industrial and institutional context

The partnership brings together Sigma’s Indian engineering and programme execution capabilities, along with its indigenously developed technology, and MIL’s ammunition manufacturing infrastructure. The source says the goal is to create a domestic industrial and engineering framework for next-generation course-correction solutions, with scope for progressive enhancement of indigenous content, technical expertise and manufacturing capability.

The initiative is also intended to move Sigma further up the defence value chain, from precision engineering and subsystem manufacturing towards the development and integration of advanced defence systems.

Sigma Advanced Systems Limited, listed on the BSE and NSE, is an Indian aerospace and defence precision engineering company. It designs, develops and manufactures mission-critical systems across aerospace, avionics, naval systems, radars and communications.

Through its UK subsidiaries Nasmyth and Bromford, the company has an established presence in the global aerospace supply chain. Munitions India Limited, headquartered in Pune, is one of India’s largest defence public sector enterprises and manufactures ammunition, explosives and related defence products for the Indian Armed Forces as well as international customers.

The MoU is being presented as a step towards expanding domestic capability in precision-guided artillery ammunition and supporting the requirements of India’s defence establishment.
