US Air Force Selects L3Harris to Enhance Secure Digital Infrastructure for Command and Control Systems

The US Air Force has made a strategic decision to partner with L3Harris Technologies for the development of a crucial digital infrastructure aimed at enhancing the military’s command and control (C2) capabilities. This initiative is part of the larger Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) project, which focuses on creating a comprehensive network that improves data integration across various multidomain sensors and response units.

The ABMS is designed to facilitate real-time information sharing among sources and operational teams, thereby boosting situational awareness during missions. Kathy Crandall, president of L3Harris, emphasized the significance of this new infrastructure, stating that it will equip warfighters with more secure, timely, and usable information. This capability is expected to enhance connectivity among sensors and shooters in complex operational settings.

L3Harris intends to leverage its extensive experience in developing and managing large-scale communications networks to meet the evolving needs of contemporary military operations. This partnership marks a significant step in advancing the Air Force’s capabilities, particularly in managing increasingly complex operational environments.

The collaboration builds on recent advancements in C2 solutions, including a noteworthy $150 million project awarded to L3Harris in April. This project focuses on providing services for platforms that collect, process, and disseminate space-based survey intelligence tailored for the US Space Force.

Additionally, the company launched a satellite communications modem earlier this year, designed to enhance data connections from nodes situated across various orbital positions. Another milestone was achieved in March when L3Harris delivered its 100,000th M-Code GPS component to the US military and its allies, a critical advancement for securing positioning in jamming-prone environments.

These developments underscore L3Harris’s ongoing commitment to delivering innovative solutions that support the US military’s operational effectiveness, positioning the company as a key player in modern defense technology.
