Twenty-four Young Officers (YOs) currently undergoing Regimental Orientation Training at the 1 EME Centre embarked on a significant visit to the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in Secunderabad. This event took place on May 18-19, 2026, as part of a broader agenda aimed at enhancing their professional military and technical exposure.

During their visit, the Young Officers explored various faculties within the MCEME, where they received comprehensive briefings about advanced training methodologies. Emphasis was placed on key indigenisation initiatives and the integration of cutting-edge technological advancements into military training and operational support systems.

The officers were introduced to state-of-the-art training laboratories that showcased innovations in multiple domains, including drones, robotics, artificial intelligence, and additive manufacturing. These facilities underscore the modernization efforts aimed at maintaining and innovating weapon systems, aviation assets, electronic warfare equipment, and communication technologies.

A noteworthy highlight of the visit was the Young Officers’ tour of the EME Archives and Museum. This experience provided them with a deep understanding of the rich heritage and operational legacy of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers, illustrating the evolution of military technology and engineering practices over time.

The visit underscored the Indian Army’s commitment to technology-driven transformation and the development of indigenous capabilities. It is part of a concerted effort to prepare future leaders for the complexities of modern, network-centric warfare environments.

As these officers prepare to transition into leadership roles within the field, the orientation programme aims to bolster their understanding of innovation, precision engineering, and operational sustainment, which are essential attributes for the Corps of EME. This initiative is designed to ensure they are well-equipped to face the challenges of contemporary military operations.
