MAROON BERET CEREMONIAL PARADE
- To mark the successful completion of training of 127 Air Force Special Forces Operatives of Garud Force, Maroon Beret Ceremonial Parade was held on 12 February 2022 at Garud Regimental Training Centre (GRTC), Air Force Station Chandigarh.
- Chief Guest AVM PS Karkare Maroon Beret, Garud Proficiency Badge and Special Forces Tabs to the successful Garud trainees and gave away trophies to the meritorious passing out trainees.
- The best all-rounder trophy was presented to LAC Suryawanshi Shivcharan Arjun.
- About Garud Commando:
- The Garud Commando Force is the special forces unit of the Indian Air Force. It was formed in September 2004 and has a current strength of over 1500 personnel.

Navy’s Presidential Fleet Review 2022
- President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the President’s Fleet Review of the Indian Navy on 21 February in Visakhapatnam to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence.
- The President’s Fleet review will witness the participation of more than 60 ships, submarines & more than 50 aircraft.
- The year 2022 is the 75th year of Independence, invites have been extended to resident Defence Attaches of all Friendly Foreign Countries for PFR 22.
- Post-Independence to date, a total of 11 Presidential Fleet Reviews (PFRs) the last one was conducted in 2016 under President Pranab Mukherjee.
Importance of Presidential Fleet Review
- A fleet review is usually conducted once during the tenure of the President, the Navy said. So far, 11 Presidential Fleet Reviews have been conducted since Independence, of which two have been International Fleet Reviews, in 2001 & 2016. “In terms of significance, the Navy’s Presidential review is second only to the Republic Day Parade.
LCA TEJAS TO PARTICIPATE IN SINGAPORE AIR SHOW
- A 44-member contingent of the Indian Air Force reached Changi International Airport in Singapore to participate in the ‘Singapore Air Show-2022’.
- The Air Show will be held from 15th to 18th February 2022.
- Singapore Air Show is a biennial event that provides a platform for the Global Aviation Industry to showcase its products.
- In the past, the Indian Air Force had participated in similar Air Shows like LIMA-2019 in Malaysia and Dubai Air Show-2021 to exhibit indigenous aircraft and formation, aerobatic teams.
US’ Indo-pacific Paper Says India Strong Partner
- The US’s new Indo-Pacific strategy has recognised both the increasing challenge posed by China’s aggression in the region and the centrality of India in the region.
Indo-Pacific:
- It is a recent concept. It was about a decade ago that the world started talking about the Indo- Pacific but its rise has been quite significant.
- The earlier term used to be Asia-Pacific, from which India was excluded.
- For India, Indo-Pacific stands for a free, open, inclusive region.
US, Japan, South Korea Meet Over North Korea
- THE U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Japanese and South Korean counterparts were meeting Saturday in Hawaii to discuss the threat posed by nuclear-armed North Korea after Pyongyang began the year with a series of missile tests.
