Four victory mashaals (flaming torches) will be carried to various parts of India, including to the villages of Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra awardees of the 1971 war, the defence ministry has said. Earlier Swarnim Vijay Mashaal reached Siachen, the highest battlefield in the world.
The Victory Flame was received at Siachen War Memorial, soldiers paid tributes to the Bravehearts at the Memorial with Military Honours. Followed by it also reached the northernmost point of Siachen at Indira Col. Victory Flame was received by troops deployed at Siachen Glacier with full ceremonials and reiterated their pledge towards the defence of Motherland.
Today Swarnim Vijay Mashaal reached Siachen Glacier & was received by troops at Bana Post 22000ft, on behalf of Fire And Fury Corps. Bana Post was captured in 1987 by Hony Capt. Bana Singh & was awarded the country’s highest Gallantry Award PVC for this operation. Bana Post is the highest post in Siachen.
