The SSB interview was conducted to check the aspirant’s intelligence and personality traits. The stages of the SSB interview are designed in a way to check “officer-like qualities” in the candidates. DAY(0) – Reporting 

The candidates have to report to the station at the time prescribed. From there, they are taken to the selection centre by any SSB officer. An opening address takes place and all the candidates are briefed about the rules and regulations to be followed.

DAY(1) – Screening Test 

The first day starts with three tests mainly allocated to check the memory of the candidate.

1. Officers Intelligence Rating Test (OIR test 1 and test 2)

This stage includes verbal and non-verbal tests. The aspirants will be given two booklets of 40 questions each. The time allotted for each booklet is 15-17 minutes. 

2. Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PP& DT)

DAY(2) – Psychology Tests

DAY(3) – Group Testing-1

This day is dedicated mainly to testing the individual capacity to work in a group. Various outdoor activities are conducted to see if the candidate is capable of working in a team or not. The group activities are as follows:-

• Progressive Group Task  (PDT)

DAY (4) – Group Testing 2

Personal Interview : The personal interview may be conducted on any of the three days after the tests of that day are over . The Interviewing Officer based on data given by student in his PIQ( Personal Information Questionnaire) asks the student various questions based on his family, academics , participation in sports and extra curricular activities, hobbies and interests, responsibilities , general knowledge including about forces , personal life, etc. The timing of interview is mostly 40 minutes though it may stretch to one hour for some or even five minutes for some.

DAY (5) – Conference

A board meeting is held at which all of the officials who evaluated the candidate are present. There follows a discussion among them about the candidate’s suitability. The candidates are then selected or rejected as per the decision of the panel after discussing all the aspects.
