The 2 MADRAS (Goondas) battalion recently celebrated a significant milestone, marking its 250th Raising Day at the Pangode Military Station. This commemorative event was characterized by ceremonial pride and deep regimental fervor, reflecting the battalion’s long and distinguished service to the nation.

On December 12, the celebrations commenced with a traditional Badakhana, fostering camaraderie among the ranks and honoring the age-old customs of the regiment. The following day, a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony took place, dedicated to honoring the supreme sacrifices made by the battalion’s fallen heroes. This ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the valor and dedication that defines the battalion, while also paying tribute to the strength and resilience of the Veer Naris, the spouses of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, whose enduring spirit continues to inspire current serving members.

Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, currently serving as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command and a former commanding officer of 2 MADRAS, addressed attendees during a Special Sainik Sammelan as part of the celebrations. In his address, he emphasized the importance of upholding the proud traditions of the Indian Army and the Madras Regiment. He called on all ranks to embody core values such as courage, discipline, and selfless service, which are pivotal to the unit’s legacy.

The 250th Raising Day celebrations not only highlighted the proud history and combat excellence of the 2 MADRAS (Goondas) but also reaffirmed the battalion’s unwavering commitment to serving the nation with honor and distinction.
