India Gate to Have Netaji Statue Soon, Announces PM Modi

  • A ‘grand statue’ of Subhas Chandra Bose will be installed at India Gate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday, two days before the freedom fighter’s 125th birth anniversary.

FLAME MERGING CEREMONY AT NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL

  • In a befitting solemn ceremony, the flame at Amar Jawan Jyoti was merged with the eternal flame at National War Memorial with full military honours. The ceremony was presided over by Air Marshal BR Krishna AVSM SC, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC).

MHA Issues Fresh Rules: Arms Manufacturers to Be Allowed To Enhance Production

  • Arms manufacturers will henceforth be allowed to enhance annual production of firearms and ammunition according to fresh rules issued by the Union home ministry. Under the Arms (Amendment) Rules, 2022, the arms manufacturers, however, will have to submit online every month details of the firearms manufactured, sold transferred, or consumed for the month.
  • “The manufacturer who has been issued a license in Form VII under these rules shall be permitted to have enhanced annual production of firearms or ammunition or caliber wise revision of his licensed capacity by giving intimation to the licensing authority and also to the state government concerned within ninety days from the end of the financial year and for which no further endorsement on the license as to capacity shall be required.”

India Strikes Hard on Pakistani Fake News Factories Deal   

  • The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has ordered the blocking of 35 YouTube-based news channels and 2 websites that were involved in spreading anti-India fake news in a coordinated manner over digital media. The YouTube accounts blocked by the Ministry had a total subscriber base of over 1 crore 20 lakh, and their videos had over 130 crore views.

ARMY CHIEF VISITS BHOPAL

  • General Manoj Mukund Naravane, Chief of Army Staff concluded a two-day visit to Bhopal today. Lieutenant General JS Nain, Southern Army Commander was also present during the visit. The COAS was briefed by the Sudarshan Chakra Corps Commander and other commanders on operational preparedness and on the reforms being undertaken towards transforming the formation into a modern, cohesive, lean & agile warfighting force.
  • The Army Chief later visited Headquarters Paschim Madhya Pradesh Sub Area. He appreciated the role of the Sub Area in assisting the civil administration in combating the COVID-19 pandemic by setting up Adhoc COVID Isolation Facilities, provision and repair of critical life-saving equipment, and augmentation of Civil Medical Infrastructure. The COAS also visited 3 EME Centre at Bairagarh Military Station and reviewed the training being imparted to mould future generation of soldiers of the Indian Army.
