PERSONAL BACKGROUND & SELF-AWARENESS

1. Tell me something about yourself that is not in your PIQ.
“Apart from what’s mentioned, I am passionate about trekking and have completed two high-altitude treks. These experiences taught me resilience, teamwork, and managing myself in tough conditions.”

2. Why should we select you and not others?
“I cannot comment on others, but I can assure you of my determination, consistent preparation, and readiness to serve the nation with dedication. I have worked on my physical fitness, leadership skills, and mental toughness, which will help me perform well here and in training.”

3. What is your biggest weakness?
“I tend to overanalyze situations sometimes, but I have been improving by setting deadlines for decisions. This has helped me stay more efficient.”

4. If we reject you today, what will you do?
“I will analyze my performance, work on shortcomings, and reapply. My goal of serving in the Armed Forces is firm, and one setback cannot deter me.”

5. Who is your role model and why?
“My role model is Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw for his strategic brilliance and calmness under pressure. His ability to inspire confidence in his troops is something I deeply admire and strive to develop in myself.”

FAMILY & BACKGROUND

6. Whom do you love more: your mother or father?
“Both equally, as they have contributed differently to my growth – my father taught me discipline and hard work, while my mother instilled compassion and patience in me.”

7. If your parents don’t support your decision to join the Armed Forces, what will you do?
“I will respectfully explain my passion, the honor of the profession, and my commitment to serve the nation. I believe they will understand my sincerity.”

8. Your father is in a private job, why didn’t you choose that field?
“While I respect his profession, I am drawn to a career that combines leadership, adventure, and service to the nation, which the Armed Forces uniquely provide.”

ACADEMICS & CAREER CHOICE

9. You have an average academic record. Why should we take you?
“Academics reflect knowledge, but OLQs reflect suitability for defence. I have consistently improved, actively participated in sports and group activities, and I am confident of contributing effectively as an officer.”

10. Why did you choose Army/Navy/Air Force and not a corporate job?
“A corporate job focuses on personal gain; the Armed Forces provide a larger purpose – serving and leading under challenging conditions, which motivates me far more.”

11. Why didn’t you go for NDA earlier?
“At that stage, I wasn’t fully aware of the opportunities. Once I understood the responsibility and honor of an officer’s life, I committed myself to this path and have prepared wholeheartedly since then.”

PERSONALITY & BEHAVIOR TESTING

12. What will you do if you find your best friend cheating in an exam?
“I would ask him to stop, explain the consequences, and if he continues, I would not support or cover for him. Integrity matters more than friendship in such situations.”

13. Are you short-tempered?
“I do get irritated occasionally, but I consciously manage it by pausing before reacting. Over time, this habit has helped me remain calm in most situations.”

14. If given a chance, which one OLQ would you like to improve?
“I would like to further improve my time management to handle multiple responsibilities more efficiently.”

CURRENT AFFAIRS & DEFENCE AWARENESS

15. What is the biggest security threat to India today?
“Cross-border terrorism and cyber threats are significant challenges. They require not just strong defence forces but also advanced technology and international cooperation.”

16. Should India have compulsory military service?
“While it can instill discipline and patriotism, India’s population and diversity may make compulsory service difficult. Voluntary service with incentives could be more practical.”

17. What are the recent defence acquisitions by India in 2025?
“Recently, India inducted the MQ-9B drones from the US and tested the Agni-V MIRV capability. Both enhance India’s surveillance and strategic capabilities.”
