RD Parade- The Best Marching Contingent 2022
- Results have been declared for Best marching contingents & Best Tableaux of Republic Day parade 2022.
- Three panels of judges were appointed for assessing the performance of marching contingents from the three Services, Central Armed Police Forces/other Auxiliary forces & tableaux from various States/ UTs and Central Ministries/Departments.

- Indian Navy was chosen as Best Marching Contingent among the Services during RD Parade 2022.

- IAF was chosen as Best Marching Contingent Popular Choice among the Services during RD Parade 2022.
Category: The Best Marching Contingent Among CAPF
- CISF was chosen as Best Marching Contingent Among CAPF during RD Parade 2022.
- The tableau of Uttar Pradesh has been selected as the best tableau among the 12 States/UTs which participated in the Republic Day parade, while Maharashtra has been voted as the best Tableau among the States/UTs in the popular choice category, informed the Ministry of Defence.
- Uttar Pradesh was based on the theme ‘One District One Product and Kashi Vishwanath Dham’. The tableau of Maharashtra was based on the theme ‘Biodiversity and State Bio-symbols of Maharashtra’.
NAVAL INVESTITURE CEREMONY
- Naval Investiture Ceremony to felicitate naval personnel who have demonstrated gallant acts, leadership, professional achievements & distinguished service of high order was conducted at INS India, New Delhi.
- Admiral R Hari Kumar, CONS, on behalf of the President of India, conferred the Gallantry and Distinguished Service Awards announced on Independence Day – 21 and Republic Day – 21 to the recipients.
- A total of 14 medals which included 2 Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry), 5 Nao Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty), 5 VSM (Long Meritorious Service), 1 Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak & 1 Jeevan Raksha Padak (courage and self-sacrifice) were awarded.
Oman Delegation Visits SNC
- Dr. Mohammed Bin Nasser Bin Ali Al-Zaabi, Secretary-General, Ministry of Defence, Sultanate of Oman along with a 7-member delegation is on a 2-day visit to Kochi from 02 – 04 February 22.
- The delegation interacted with Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi Flag Officer Commanding – in – Chief, SNC.
- They also attended 11th meeting of India-Oman Joint Military Cooperation Committee (JMCC), aimed at enhancing the defence cooperation b/w the two countries.
- Both countries across the Arabian Sea are linked geographically.
- Diplomatic relations were established in 1955 and the relationship was upgraded to Strategic partnership in 2008. Oman has been a key pillar of India’s West Asia Policy.
- The Sultanate of Oman is a strategic partner of India in the Gulf and an important interlocutor at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Arab League & Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) fora.
- Gandhi Peace Prize 2019 was conferred on Late HM Sultan Qaboos in recognition of his leadership in strengthening the ties b/w India & Oman.

Oman’s Strategic Significance for India:
- Oman is at the gateway of the Strait of Hormuz through which India imports one-fifth of its oil imports.
- Oman is the only country in the Gulf region with which all three services of the Indian armed forces conduct regular bilateral exercises.
- India has secured access to the key Port of Duqm in Oman for military use and logistical support to counter China.
Economic & Commercial Relations:
- India is among Oman’s top trading partners.
- For Oman, India was the 3rd largest (after UAE and China) source for its imports and the 3rd largest market (after UAE and Saudi Arabia) for its non-oil exports in 2019.
Soldiers Deployed in UN Peacekeeping Mission
- Information was given by Raksha Rajya Mantri Ajay Bhatt in Parliament, at present 5,404 Indian peacekeepers are deployed in eight UN Missions.
- 159 Indian Army personnel have made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty while serving with UN Missions to date.
- Presently, Indian Army personnel deployed in UN Missions are paid their salary by the GOI & Over Seas Allowances by the UN.
- There are no delays in the payment to the personnel of the Indian Army deployed in UN Missions.
Aerospace Safety Council Meet
- Western Air Command Annual Aerospace Safety Council Meet (AASCM) 2022 was held at its headquarters in Delhi on 04 February 22.
- The aim of the meeting was to address the areas of concern that affect Aerospace Safety and strengthen mechanisms for accident prevention strategy of WAC.
- The Western Air Command (WAC) is the regional command of IAF HQ in New Delhi.
- It is the largest and most important Air Command of the IAF, comprising 16 Air Force Bases & is responsible for aerial defence of North India.

DEFENCE INDUSTRIAL CORRIDORS
- The GOI has established 2 DICs in the country, one in U.P namely UPDIC & the other in Tamil Nadu namely TNDIC with an aim to attract investment of about Rs 10,000 crore in each corridor.
- Setting up of DIC aim to catalyse indigenous production of defence & aerospace related items, thereby reducing our reliance on imports & promoting export which may create ample employment opportunities.
