The AMC Centre & College in Lucknow is set to host the 57th AMC Biennial Conference from March 24 to 26, 2025, marking a significant event in the Army-level tri-service medical community. This prestigious gathering, organized by the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), will convene high-ranking medical officials from the Army, Navy, and Air Force to engage in discussions on pressing healthcare issues, exchange knowledge on recent advancements, and collaboratively chart the future course of military healthcare in India.

During the conference’s opening, an emotional tribute took place at the Shradddhanjali, the AMC War Memorial, where senior medical leaders, including Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services; Lieutenant General Sadhna S Nair, Director General Medical Services (Army); Surgeon Vice Admiral Kavita Sahai, Director General Medical Services (Navy); and Air Marshal Sandeep Thareja, Director General Medical Services (Air), paid their respects to the courageous personnel of the Armed Forces Medical Corps (AMC). This poignant ceremony served to honor the legacy and sacrifices of the AMC Brave Hearts who have dedicated their lives to serving the nation.

The first session of the conference, under the chairmanship of DGAFMS Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, concentrated on crucial tri-service medical matters. The panel included distinguished figures such as the respective Directors General of Medical Services from all three military branches, along with other senior dignitaries like the Director General Dental Services and the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Medical).

In-depth discussions during the session revolved around key strategic and operational challenges faced by the Armed Forces Medical Services. The focus was on developing forward-looking policies and enhancing inter-service cooperation to improve healthcare delivery in both operational and peacetime environments. Major themes included capability development, innovation in medical practices, and the integration of global best practices to address the unique challenges encountered by AFMS.

The 57th AMC Biennial Conference not only underscores the Indian Armed Forces’ dedication to excellence in military medicine but also exemplifies the ongoing collaborative efforts among the tri-service leadership. The conference aims to steer the AFMS towards a future characterized by innovation, integration, and unwavering service to the nation, ensuring optimal healthcare for all military personnel and their families.
