57th Biennial Conference of Army Medical Corps Concludes with Focus on Excellence and Innovation in Military Healthcare

Lucknow witnessed the successful conclusion of the 57th Biennial Conference of the Army Medical Corps (AMC) at the AMC Centre & College, marking an event filled with insightful discussions and strategic deliberations over its three-day agenda. The final day was a culmination of the Corps’ dedication to its guiding principle, “Sarve Santu Niramaya,” which translates to “Let all be free from illness.”

The day commenced with an impressive Guard of Honour, presided over by Lt Gen Sadhna S Nair, AVSM, VSM, Director General Medical Services (Army) and Senior Colonel Commandant of the AMC. In her address, she expressed immense pride in the dedication and discipline of the troops, reaffirming the Corps’ commitment to excellence in military healthcare.

A special Sainik Sammelan followed, where Lt Gen Nair emphasized the importance of professionalism, compassion, and operational readiness among medical troops. She underlined the AMC’s fundamental role in safeguarding the health and well-being of military personnel, encouraging her team to remain committed to innovative practices in service delivery. “As custodians of the nation’s health on the battlefield and beyond, it is our solemn duty to uphold the principles of care, compassion, and courage,” said Lt Gen Nair, stressing the importance of the AMC’s motto in the pursuit of medical excellence.

Later in the conference, Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of HQ Central Command, shared his insights with conference delegates. He underscored the AMC’s crucial influence on the operational effectiveness and mission readiness of the Indian Army. Lt Gen Sengupta called for adaptability in military medicine to face emerging challenges, along with a focus on leveraging technological advancements and enhancing collaborative efforts for ongoing improvement.

In addition, a session on Corps matters chaired by Lt Gen Nair facilitated discussions among senior officers regarding organizational growth, cadre management, and future policy reforms. This session was pivotal in assessing ongoing initiatives and strategizing on improved efficiency and welfare for the Corps.

The conference also hosted the 11th Colonel Commandant’s Conclave, which convened esteemed former and current leaders of the AMC to discuss the long-term vision and objectives of the Corps.
