Khadi Prakritik Paint: First of Its Kind
- New automated manufacturing unit of Khadi Prakritik Paint, India’s first and only paint made from cow dung, in Jaipur Inaugurated.
- Shri Nitin Gadkari declared himself the “Brand Ambassador ‘’ of this Paint, also asserted that it would empower the rural and Agro-based economy.
- At present the daily production of Prakritik Paint is 500 liters which will go up to 1000 liters per day said Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
Tele-Law Programme Crosses Another Milestone
- Justice Department commemorates the milestone of crossing 9 lakh beneficiaries under its Tele-Law programme
- Tele Law has potential to foster inclusive character of justice delivery and strengthening rule of law.
- Tele-Law saw a surge of 369% growth in number of beneficiaries seeking legal advice during last one year.
- Began in 2017 today Tele-Law is operational in 633 districts in 34 States/UTs covering 50,000 Common Service Centers (CSCs).
Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘PK’ now in NFAI Collection
- National Film Archive of India (NFAI) has announced a significant addition of the original camera negative of Rajkumar Hirani’s film PK (2014) in its collection.
- “It was important to preserve the negative and I am happy that it would be preserved in NFAI at Pune. It is the duty of a filmmaker to ensure that the films are preserved, and I appeal to all filmmakers to support NFAI in this important cause,” said Rajkumar Hirani on the occasion.
Pakistan Added to Child Soldier Recruiter List
- US has added Pakistan and 14 other countries to a Child Soldier Recruiter List that identifies foreign governments having government-supported armed groups that recruit or use child soldiers.
- Child Soldier refers to any person below 18 years of age who has been, recruited or used by an armed force or armed group in any capacity.
- Recruiting Child Soldiers is also considered a war crime under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
- The recruitment or use of children below the age of 15 as soldiers is prohibited by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
Anti-Dumping Duty Revised by GOI
- GOI has decided not to impose Anti-Dumping Duty (ADD) on imports of certain copper products, from China, Thailand, Korea and three other countries.
- Dumping is said to occur when the goods are exported by a country to another country at a price lower than the price it normally charges in its own home market.
- In April, Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) recommended imposing the duty on “copper and copper alloy flat-rolled products” from China, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, after conducting a probe.
- However, the Ministry of Finance takes the final call to impose these duties and issues notification for the same.
Swami Vivekananda Remembered on His Death Anniversary
- Regarded as a one of the finest spiritual leaders and intellects India has produced Swami Vivekananda died on July 4th, 1902.
- He was the chief disciple of the 19th-century mystic Ramakrishna Paramhansa and established the Ramakrishna Mission in 1897.
- Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had called Vivekananda the “maker of modern India.”
