Milrem Robotics, an Estonia-based technology firm, is set to unveil its HAVOC 8×8 Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) at the IDEX 2025 defense exhibition in the UAE. This innovative vehicle promises to lead the way in next-generation hybrid unmanned ground vehicles, positioning itself as a transformative force in modern combat operations.
According to Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics, the HAVOC RCV is designed to provide exceptional agility and high-speed maneuverability. This functionality will enable military commanders to effectively project force over extended distances. Highlighting the vehicle’s advanced capabilities, Väärsi stated that the HAVOC’s robust design and hybrid propulsion system facilitate the integration of large-caliber weaponry, while also ensuring precision and enhanced lethality on the battlefield.
The HAVOC 8×8 RCV is specifically engineered to bolster mechanized units by functioning as a tactical wingman to infantry fighting vehicles and battle tanks. One of its standout features is its hybrid electric powertrain, which allows for near-silent operation, lending the vehicle significant stealth advantages in various combat scenarios.
Equipped with a state-of-the-art AI-driven navigation system, the HAVOC RCV achieves impressive performance metrics, including a top speed of 110 kilometers (68 miles) per hour on roads and 50 kilometers (31 miles) per hour off-road. The vehicle weighs approximately 15 tons when empty, rendering it lighter than traditional manned 8×8 vehicles. This reduced weight contributes to its superior off-road capability, allowing it to navigate rugged terrains, urban environments, deserts, and mountainous regions with ease.
The vehicle’s design also accommodates a substantial payload, with the capacity to carry up to five tons of weapons, sensors, or other essential equipment. It is compatible with a 30 mm turret, complete with missile launchers manufactured by Frankenburg, further enhancing its combat-ready profile.
Milrem Robotics’ HAVOC 8×8 RCV is not only poised to showcase technological advancements in unmanned combat vehicles but also aims to redefine the strategic landscape of military operations worldwide. As the defense community eagerly anticipates its debut at IDEX 2025, the HAVOC RCV stands at the forefront of the evolving battlefield technologies.
