During the meeting at his office, Anwar Ibrahim expressed the importance of the discussions, highlighting that they addressed various key issues, including education, security, and defense collaboration. Shoigu, who serves as the secretary of the Russian Security Council, is also scheduled to hold discussions with Malaysia’s Defense Minister, Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
According to TASS, the state news agency of Russia, Shoigu conveyed a message from President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the traditional friendliness of Russia-Malaysia relations. He indicated that future discussions would encompass fields such as space and nuclear energy, underscoring the diverse areas in which both countries could collaborate.
Shoigu’s visit to Malaysia follows a meeting with Indonesian leaders, including President Prabowo Subianto and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
