Rohde & Schwarz has chosen ELT Group to supply advanced electronic warfare components for the German Navy’s F124 class frigates and the Polish Navy’s new Miecznik class multirole frigates. This significant partnership underscores the commitment of both organizations to enhancing naval capabilities with cutting-edge technology.
Last year, Rohde & Schwarz was tasked with the supply and integration of a range of systems for the three F124 frigates, focusing on communications, radar electronic support measures, and radar countermeasures. The latest contract extends this collaboration to include the three Miecznik vessels, for which Rohde & Schwarz will provide advanced communications systems along with radar and communications electronic support measures.
Rohde & Schwarz highlighted the collaboration’s foundation on ELT Group’s ability to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the stringent technical and commercial demands set by Rohde & Schwarz. This partnership leverages the complementary strengths of both companies’ portfolios, signaling a synergistic relationship poised to yield robust technological advancements.
Central to this deal is the KORA 40 family of electronic support measures (ESM) that Rohde & Schwarz will provide. The KORA 40 system is designed to enable continuous detection, identification, tracking, and analysis of diverse radar emissions and communication signals. Thanks to its comprehensive situational awareness capabilities, the system covers the entire electromagnetic spectrum with high sensitivity and extended range, allowing for real-time analysis and response.
Alexander Philipp, managing director of Rohde & Schwarz Vertriebs-GmbH, expressed optimism about the ongoing collaboration, which traces its roots back to the F126 project. He emphasized the importance of a reliable partnership with ELT Group, acknowledging that the latter’s contributions significantly enhance the established R&S KORA solutions. Philipp described the latest contract as a pivotal development in the ongoing partnership between the two companies and within the broader context of German-Italian defense cooperation.
This contract marks a substantial step forward in equipping both the German and Polish navies with advanced electronic warfare capabilities, further strengthening their operational readiness in increasingly complex maritime environments.
