Lt Gen Bhupesh K Goyal, the Director General of Organisation & Personnel at the Office of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services, made an official visit to Military Hospital Jodhpur to assess its facilities and review ongoing welfare initiatives directed at supporting military families.
During his inspection on April 11, 2025, Lt Gen Goyal expressed high praise for the hospital’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for armed forces personnel and their dependents. He specifically highlighted the innovative welfare programs being implemented, which reflect a growing recognition of the importance of family support within the military.
One of the key initiatives that garnered the General’s admiration was “ANKUR,” a 24/7 creche aimed at facilitating working mothers in the armed forces. This facility provides an essential resource for military personnel, enabling them to balance their demanding careers with the responsibilities of parenthood. By offering a safe and nurturing environment for their children, ANKUR addresses a significant challenge faced by service members, reinforcing the military’s commitment to supporting family welfare.
Furthermore, Lt Gen Goyal commended the hospital’s efforts in upgrading its Early Intervention Centre, known as “KHUSHI.” This center is dedicated to offering therapeutic support and early diagnosis for children with special needs, specifically catering to the dependents of armed forces personnel. The enhancements made to KHUSHI are in line with similar initiatives that have been rolled out across other military hospitals, including the recently inaugurated “Prayas” Early Intervention Centre at the Army Hospital (Research and Referral) in Delhi. Both initiatives aim to provide crucial assistance to differently-abled children and their families, highlighting a concerted effort within the military healthcare system to ensure comprehensive support for all associated families.
Lt Gen Goyal’s visit reaffirms the Indian Armed Forces’ dedication to not only enhancing medical and welfare services but also to fostering a holistic approach to care, ensuring that the needs of service members’ families are met.
