In a significant move towards enhancing operational capabilities, Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva, the Chief of Staff of the Indian Army’s Central Command, conducted a visit to the Golden Key Division. This visit, which took place on a recent Sunday, is part of ongoing efforts by the Indian Army to bolster its formations within the framework of the 2025 initiative termed the “Year of Defence Reforms.”
During his visit, Lt Gen Sachdeva was given a comprehensive briefing on the division’s recent initiatives, focusing on operational preparedness, training programs, and administrative advancements. He expressed appreciation for the Golden Key Division’s commitment to excellence and emphasized the necessity of upholding high standards as the Army faces an array of evolving challenges. The division, which holds historical significance for its involvement in the 1965 Indo-Pak War as part of the 14 Infantry Division, plays a crucial role in the Indian Army’s operations within the western sector.
Lt Gen Sachdeva, who took on the Chief of Staff role on April 10, 2025, brings valuable experience from his previous position as General-Officer-Commanding of the Nagrota-based White Knight Corps (16 Corps). His leadership is expected to enhance the operational efficiency of the Central Command, aligning it with the overarching modernization goals set by the Indian Army. The Central Command, which has its headquarters in Lucknow, oversees eight states and is vital for managing the central sector of India’s western border with Pakistan, in addition to the Uttarakhand sector that borders both China and Nepal.
