General Upendra Dwivedi, the 30th Chief of Army Staff who assumed his position on June 30, 2024, led the celebrations. In his formal address, he lauded the Armoured Corps as the “Steel Fist of the Nation,” commending their bravery and discipline, as well as their crucial role in safeguarding India’s borders. He emphasized the Corps’ contributions to contemporary military strategy, particularly in the context of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which aims to enhance indigenous defense manufacturing.

On April 30, Pakistan’s Foreign Office issued a warning based on “credible intelligence” regarding potential imminent military action by India. This alert follows a tragic incident on April 22, when 26 Hindu tourists were killed in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, marking the deadliest civilian attack in the region in over two decades. In response, India attributed responsibility to the Pakistan-linked group “Kashmir Resistance,” leading to diplomatic and economic repercussions, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and restrictions on bilateral trade and airspace access.
